INDEX of Hiking Pictures

We have created over 100 albums with several thousand images from our day hikes around Santa Barbara the last seven years or so. These have been uploaded to picasaweb as a public resource for others planning their own hikes.

The images capture the constantly changing landscape through seasons, storms and several wildfires and my hope is they will help foster respect for the beautiful wilderness areas we are fortunate to enjoy around Santa Barbara.

Unfortunately so many albums are hard to search, so I prepared this index by location to make pictures more accessible; just click on the text hyperlink. The tour starts in Santa Barbara, moves west past 154 and San Marcos Pass through the Goleta foothills up the coastline to Gaviota Pass and the State Park, and then heads back east along the Santa Ynez crest to Refugio Pass after a brief stop in Lompoc.

From there we visit Santa Ynez Valley before heading north into the backcountry. There are several albums recording the beautiful Midland School property before continuing up Figueroa Mountain, around Ranger Peak, out to Zaca Peak then down to the Cachuma Saddle environs.

Next we enter the San Rafael Wilderness along Manzana Creek for some wild exploring around
Castle Rock (aka The Pinnacles) before heading up to the majestic Hurricane Deck.

Then it’s on to Highway 166 and New Cuyama before looping around the Ojai backcountry and on to Santa Monica and Malibu. Finally, there’s a stop in the Sierras and Yosemite before ending in Australia where it all began.

Naturally my beautiful wife is the preferred subject to add color and perspective in many pictures, and I am blessed to enjoy her loving companionship and inspiration on these rugged adventures.
